I searched on here but could not find much info on the Winter Convention for 2009. Since I've never been to one (shame on me) I have lots of questions.

What exactly happens at these conventions?

Is there a schedule for each day? What time each day do things start?

Can we show up just for one day or is it all 3 days or nothing? If we can come and go as we want the schedule for each day is crucial so as to know when and where to be for each event.

What about the kids? Will there be something for them to do while we are in meetings/events?

What are all the costs involved? I see prices/costs for mugs, t-shirts, dinner/dance and rooms... is the convention free? Are there other costs?

Is it $40 per day for dinner/dancing or $40 for all 3 days?

What is the dress code and does the dress code change per day/event?

THANKS!

I can't speak to the details for the 2009 Winter Convention (your club should have received a packet at the Fall Delegates meeting), but here is a typical schedule:

Friday evening: Hospitality suite - Usually snacks and beverages (that's where the $10 bottomless beer mug comes in), hanging out with fellow 4 wheelers. Often includes casual entertainment, like videos, valve cover races, etc.

Saturday morning: Delegates meeting starts at 9:00AM. Sign in with your Region Director before the meeting to get your ballot if you are a delegate.
Saturday lunch: You are generally on your own, but sometimes there is a "special" (box lunch, buffet, etc.) available for a fee.
Saturday afternoon: Delegates meeting continues.
Saturday evening: Dinner Dance and Raffle. The $40 is for the Dinner Dance. If you don't want dinner, you can just go to the dance, sometimes for free, sometimes for a small fee. Raffle tickets are sold throughout the day.

Sunday morning: Usually just head home. Sometimes there is a beakfast special arranged with the hotel. Sometimes there is a short BOD meeting.

Dress throughout is casual. Some people dress up some for the Dinner Dance. Sometimes there is a "theme" for the Dinner Dance.

You can come and go as you please.

There is no charge for the meeting and generally none for the hospitality suite (except for beverages).

There is generally a room with various vendors' displays and representatives that is open before, after, and during breaks in the meeting on Saturday, and sometimes on Friday evening.

Thanks Alan. That was the most detailed info I have seen so far.
So where do the non-Delegates fit in as far as going to meeting to learn more about the PNW?

Good morning Clay! Non Delegate members are welcome to any event and function. At this time the only thing you are not allowed is to vote. If you want to speak to the delegation, you are supposed to be a delegate, but I will make sure you can speak! As a delegate for my club, I would surrender the floor for you! Other than that there is no restrictions of any kind.

Best part of W/C is seing folks you haven't seen for a year, and making a few new friends.

Just to make this clear. I was given a packet with the info, but it is not in detail of what it is like for someone who never had been there. Reading peoples experiences help me understand.

Thank you for sharing what goes on.

Then at the R4 meeting I found out we could give a PC class during part of that day because only delegate had to be somewhere. I don't remember what it was called. Anyway I am not one to sit in one place all day so this is good news to me.

Tell me what goes on during dinner. Speakers, slide show or anything?

Usually the dinner and the dance. Depending on how it is organized by the hosts, they will have the door prize ticket drawing spread out then as well. A dandy time to socialize with all the old and new friends.

Check with the contact people to see what they have planned.

I agree now that I have more details. Until reading all of this I was under the impression that the convention was a convention, meaning that I would have to sit and listen to people talk the whole time. Not that I don't enjoy hearing some of you speak...

I was committed on going as soon as I read about the bottomless beer mugs!

Hey... since I have 2 hands can I buy 2 mugs? :?: :?: :?:

Maybe... but since there is the bottomless beer mugs I may want to come down for pleasure instead of business.

Even if I end up not being an "official vendor" at the W/C... can I donate door prizes? :?:
valve cover races
I need more info on these valve cover races.

Do I bring my own? Is it like a pine wood derby but with valve covers?
