Mineral Withdrawal-Southern Oregon

Our esteemed "southbound end of the proverbial nothbound burro" governator has written letters to the Secretary of Agriculture and Secretary of Interior requesting Mineral entry withdrawal of lands in Southern Oregon surrounding Kalmiopsis, Wild Rogue and Copper/Salmon wilderness areas. He has been under pressure from the green faction to do this as a first salvo in getting those three areas and everything around them made into one giant ONE MILLION acre wilderness area.

Mineral withdrawal means you cannot file a mining claim on the ground in accordance with the 1872 mining law.

We need to write both Secretaraies SOONEST and demand this not be withdrawn.

Creek 'n Trail ends up right at the south tip of Kalmiopsis, so we would definately lose this trail if this proposal for combining those areas comes true.

Secretary of Agriculture - Tom Vilsack

Secretary of Interior - Ken Salazar

Both would be in DC at the main offices of those departments.

No address at hand but you can get from their websites or the phone book or local forest service or blm office.

Well, that'll put Curry County out of business. I sort of agreed with Copper Salmon, but only as far as fishing on the Elk and Sixes went. This is just silly. Any feedback from the powers that be in Gold Beach, Brookings, etc?? Kind of tied to that area. My wife is from Gold Beach, and we still have many friends there.

We don't have anyone down there other than the club in Roseburg. I has been in discussion on a couple of threads on the Gold Prospectors forum (GPAA). Have not heard from anyone in the OHV community,

Art, do you have the source of the information? I.E. News paper article? or was it just on the other forum?
Just want to be able to get my facts straight.

Thanks Alan
