Late 90s Suburban 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

I am looking at buying a late 90s Suburban. Most of these I found are 1/2 ton. I am wondering what the different is between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton other than the axles. On a 1/2 ton can I just swap in a FF 14 bolt in the rear and change the outters on the front to 8 lug to be as good as a stock 3/4 ton? My 89 3/4 ton Suburban had a SF 14 bolt and a 10 bolt up front.

I am only guessing that both 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are IFS. I don't know though since I can't find a 98 3/4 ton. I wonder how bad a straight axle swap would be if it come to that.

Well my wife found a loaded 98 1/2 ton Suburban for $5000 that has 110,000 miles on it. So around that price.

I just found out my friend has a 6" lift for sale cheap that fits 93-98 1/2 tons.
