Colville National Forest Forest Plan Meeting
I do not know how many of you have ever traveled the five 4x4 trails in the Colville National Forest. If you ever
have traveled them, please respond to the following:
The future of the 4x4 trails in the Colville National Forest (CNF) may depend upon your responses!
Therefore, please respond not later than Friday, January 1, 2010!
This deadline is very import as the next "roundtable" meeting is scheduled for very early in January!
I will consolidate your responses and forward them to the motorized representative.
If you are aware of anyone else who may not receive this initial e-mail and have been on any of these trails/roads, please forward this e-mail to them and have them respond directly back to me. Thanks!
I have been asked by the motorized representative to the Colville National Forest (CNF) Forest Plan Meeting to provide input on the value of the 4x4 trails/roads in the CNF.
For those of you who may not have heard of the CNF Forest Plan Meeting, here's the background on this "roundtable":
Senator Cantwell and Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers are bringing together a collaborative group to try andI have been e-mailing Gary Prewitt to develop a set of questions that he feels will address the value of the five 4x4 trails in the Colville National Forest:
build further agreement on management of the Colville National Forest. The Senator and Congresswoman are
impressed with collaborations thus far, including that of Northeast Washington Forestry Coalition and those
conducted by the Forest Service, but feel there is a need for further discussion before decisions are made by the
CNF or Congress. They are asking stakeholders to come together to resolve key issues on behalf of their interest
group and the public. The objective is to produce recommendations to the Forest Service and the Congress,
providing further opportunity for the local area to have influence on the management of their local national forest.
Below are the stakeholder groups and those invited to represent them.
Mike Petersen, Executive Director, The Lands Council
Phil Aune Industry, AFRC
