Governers Budget meeting
I came to this meeting last night, hoping we'd have a good presence. About 8 people showed up, which ain't bad at all!
Arlene was able to speak, and although it was a good opportunity for us to voice our concern, I left with a feeling of disappointment...

I will not Stand by and Let you Insult Arlene
If you are Mr High all mighty that can do things so much better then come to the region meetings tell us how much you care about this Sport and let us Stand behind you and get you voted in as Washington State Director.
I applaud your words for being what you care about ...just bad timming and wrong place. Save those for the Business meeting
The Open forum is not a place to Bash one of our elected Officials Because "you" think she did a Bad job.
Step up to the Plate Brotha.. Lets here you.
Myself and a couple of the Dogpound where there. here is a picture from the back
I want to thank those that made the time to show up for last nights meeting. We had a few members present as well as a WOW represenitive. Present were. Bob and Arlene Brooks(Washington state Dir), Lee Benoun(Hombres), Edward Campbell (region 2 dir.), Jacob(Rainer ridge rams), Grant (WOW), Myself and a couple of others whose full names I cant remember (senior moments)
I came prepared to speak but with the numbers present I knew they wouldn't be allowing everyone to speak so I yielded my time to Arlene.
Jacob your post is both disrespectful and not very accurate. Arlene came prepared with a well written presentation. There was a woman in the audience that rudely interrupted her by asking her to repeat who she represented. This caused some confusion and the members of the panel were repeating the name at the same time as Arlene was trying to. If you listen to your video you can hear very clearly that Arlene stated our name very clearly. It was the rude woman that created the mess and killed Arlene's presentation. As someone who has been in that position many times I can tell you its very hard to recover your composure when such a thing happens. Being under a 2 minute limit just adds to the pressure. Maybe if you had a little experience in these matters you wouldn't be so quick to judge others that are trying to make a difference. I also will say that when I asked you if you had signed up to speak you told me no. So if this is all so important to you and your so well versed on these issues why didn't you sign up to speak ? Its this kind of bashing on our officers and represenitives that makes so many people want to raise their hand and take on these jobs for us.
Thanks Arlene for all that you do for us :luke:
Well said Jim.

Following is the transcription of Kira's speech:
This excursion started off with a curve ball - we went to the WSU Administration Building in Salmon Creek (where the meeting was supposed to be). There was a sign on the door indicating that the meeting had been moved to Clark Collge (a 15+ minute drive). Even though we were over 30 minutes early to WSU (to ensure an opportunity to speak) - the location change dropped us in right at 7:00pm.
Both Kira Dominiak and Ryan Wells signed up to speak but the gentleman running the meeting indicated that only one representative from each group would be invited to speak. Everyone in the room was very respectful of all of the speakers with ongoing loud cheers and applause going to support the speakers who were championing their cause.
Kira's speech focused on the need to support the Department of Natural Resources and the return of the NOVA funds - the two main issues that we believe require the most attention. Kira did not waste her precious two minutes gaining clout for the groups she represents, but rather went right to work defending recreation on State Lands for all Washingtonians and visitors who recreate in Washington. Her plea was on behalf of ALL outdoor enthusiasts, regardless of their recreation of choice. The panel is obligated to respond to issues that effect the majority of the people - absolutely EVERYONE befefits from State Lands.
We strongly feel that this approach had the most potential to get the attention of the Governor and the Blue Ribbon panel and from the looks on their faces as Kira spoke and the amount of notes that they took while she was speaking - we are confident that our message was received. After the meeting, the Washington Trails Association representative (whom we know from DNR meetings) congratulated Kira on a job well done. He felt that he could leave the meeting knowing that his interests had also been well represented...
Thank you Kira for taking the time out of your life to represent our interests and thank you also to Ryan for being in the bull pen - ready to swing if called upon - your efforts are greatly appreciated.
I was representing myself, my children and the sport I enjoy.
hey chrystal thanks for posting that info..That was awsome
