UPDATE from Forest Service, September 26:

Central Oregon – Due to recent cooler weather, fire officials with the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests and the Prineville District, Bureau of Land Management have decided to lift most of the public use restrictions effective midnight tonight, September 26, 2011. The lifting of these restrictions opens up dispersed and developed campsites to campfires and allows travel on unmaintained roads, except where noted below. Fire officials want to remind people planning on recreating or hunting this fall on public lands that conditions remain dry. Campfires should be fully extinguished when not being attended, and vehicles should avoid driving or parking over dry vegetation.

Thanks Patti. The operative work appears to be "hunting".

Season opens on Saturday, and a boatload of westside $$$$ on the line.

But at least they are available for use
