replacing intake and exhaust manifold gaskets (help)

1984 cj7 258 6 cyl.

chilton's does not tell me if i need to use silicone sealant or not.
do i use that on the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets?

Not on the exhaust, silicone sealant would not live long with the heat. Some one else will have to chime in on the intake, never fooled with the 6 poppers.

No sealant on either portion of the gasket...and make sure you have the correct gasket for the rig...some had a slightly stepped intake portion of the gasket, and if you get the wrong one, you'll end up with vacuum leaks at the intake gasket area!!!
