Sections of trails in Yacolt State Forest closed this weekend due to herbicide treatment
By Ear to the Ground
For safety reasons, DNR is restricting access to sections of the Tarbell Trail starting tomorrow Friday May 14, and for 48 hours afterwards due to an aerial herbicide treatment taking place in the area.
The location of this treatment is approximately 2.5 to 3.25 miles southeast from the Tarbell Trailhead, north of Hidden Fall, in the Yacolt Burn State Forest. Itís taking place in units 3 and 4 of the Iron Chef timber sale area. The trail will be posted on all entrance points to these units, including access from Silver Star, as well as at Rock Creek, Cold Creek, Grouse Vista, and the trailhead.

Because of the nature of the herbicides, there is a 48 hour Restricted Entry Interval. Please heed these restrictions for your own safety.
DNR typically applies herbicides following a timber harvest to keep other species from growing in our plantations to give the merchantable wood a fighting chance at growing and surviving.
