July 2012 Meeting Minutes
Region 3 Minutes
17 July 2012
Region 3 Director Kyle Wiebold called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m., followed by the flag salute and a moment of silence. Please keep Kristen Smith in your prayers - she is not feeling well.
Thirteen Clubs were present this evening including Cascade Cruisers; Flat Broke & 4-Wheeling; Hubs in; Mud Puppies; Mud-A-Rama; Our Gang Off-Road; Piston’s Wild –Oregon; Piston’s Wild –Washington; PNW Individual Member Club; Push N Pulls; Sand Fleas; Those Guys Off Road; Vancouver 4 Wheelers.
Bri and Bub Offroad –This club is very volunteer oriented. They are active with the Candlelighters and they are Tread Lightly Master Trainers. Contact Bri and Bub Off-Road for Tread Lightly training. They can be found on Facebook –BriandBubOffRoad.
Kelly with Double Black Diamond Off Road Magazine – This is a brand new magazine for the everyday 4 wheeler in the Pacific Northwest. There will be a Kick Off Party Sunday, August 18, 2012 at Rodders Bar and Grill in Oregon City. Kelly is anticipating that the first magazine will be out in September.
HOSTING CLUB: Thank you to 4 Wheel Parts for providing pizza this evening.
Tom Fisher made the motion, seconded by Rick Smith, that the June 2012 meeting minutes be accepted as printed. The motion carried.
Region Director Kyle Wiebold – Kyle presented the flyer for the July 29th Barrel Extravaganza Show at Cowlitz County Fairgrounds in Longview, Washington. Please let Marty know if you will be racing. The racers need to be there by 2:00 pm and the show starts at 4:00 pm. There is no entry free for the racers. So far, there are seven racers confirmed. Operation Shore Patrol is on schedule and working out the details of the camping situation. Final details are being made and more information to follow next month. Kyle presented the T-shirt design for Operation Shore Patrol. We will be voting tonight on which design to go with. The delegates decided to go with option B for the T-shirt design.
Vice Director Tom Fisher – No Report
Secretary Margaret Schiedler– Turned in meeting minutes to Tri-Power. Thank you to Kyle for posting the meeting minutes to the PNW4WDA forum.
Treasurer Rick Levine – Gave the treasurer report for June and July.
Public Relations James August – James let us know that he has been talking to Jamal with ODF regarding the trails in the Tillamook Forest. Jamal is concerned that there is not a lot of activity from the clubs that have adopted trails in Browns Camp. He is asking for clubs to come out and take care of their trails and if you would like to adopt a trail contact Jamal for more information.
Competition Marty Tilford –Region Run Offs was held and there was a really good turnout for Region 3. Men Team consists of: Scott Mathany---Team Captain, Robert Williams, Larry Curtis, Mike Barnes, MJ Alexander, Kyle Wiebold
Women Team consists of: Crystal Crowder-----Team Captain, Megan Alloway, Margi Williams, Taylor Folden, Wendy Barnes, and Shelbi J Curtis. Summer Convention will be held at the Camas Valley track August 10-12th.
Oregon Land Matters Jeff Bowman – Absent. Jon Halleaux-The TSF trail tour was very educational and Dave Hiatt gave a great presentation/tour on how to build trails. Those Guys Off Road have been given permission to start building a trail in the La Dee Flats. They are conducting clean up in the area every month. The second clean up netted 900lbs of garbage. Those Guys Off Road and their volunteers have picked up 3100lbs in only two clean ups! There will be another clean up next month –go to Those Guys Off Road Facebook page for more details. Keep up the good work Those Guys Off Road!
Washington Land Matters Kira Dominiak –Absent. Progress towards trail building is being made. Department of Natural Resources has successfully negotiated with the engineering firm. Please watch Piston’s Wild website for more information on work party dates. Twelve grants have been applied for the coming year.
Club Power/We Did It/Quill Power Don and Carol Jensen – Carol has turned in everything that she has. She is waiting for a response.
IAD Don and Carol Jensen– Off Road Organizations have filed a lawsuit regarding the 800 miles that the government is trying to take away in the Tahoe National Forest.
Ways and Means Kristen Smith– Absent.
Lance Schiedler is requesting $400 for Pick Up The Burn. Joey Verpoorten with Pistons Wild of Washington is the co-chair for Pick Up The Burn. He was unable to attend tonight’s meeting but is hoping for PNW4WDA continued support. The matter was discussed and Paula Freimuth made a motion to give Pick Up The Burn $300 and Jon Halleaux 2nd the motion. The motion carried.
