On Saturday there was an article in our local paper (Albany Democrat Herald) that the Baker City Herald reports that there may be no change in the TMP until 2016. The Observer (location??) reported that they got about 3300 letters, most form letters in favor of closures, many of the rest were detailed objections. USFS says next step will be more accurate maps of the roads.
Now for the teeth in the hindquarters......USFS has said the next round will be to get down to a road system that is sustainable with funding available for upkeep. That is supposed to start this year and be done by 2015/16. My guess is the new TMP will include this next step in it, and kill two birds with one set of closures.
