Default New Nat. Monument in the Siskiyous

There is a renewed push for a new National Monument in southern Oregon/northern California. Looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 600,000 acres between Ahsland, Ruch and Takilma in Oregon and Happy Camp and the Klamath River in CValifornia, Would be a "habitat link" between the Oregon Caves and the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Hundreds of jobs could be created to restore forests, streams and roads after decades of logging in the area, according to Joseph Vaile, director of the Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center in Ashland. Personal note to self: couple of dozer/backhoe jobs closing roads.

This will be something for the state director and region folks to keep an eye on for the next year or so. It would pass in a heartbeat with the congress we have now. No bill introduced at this time, but it will be coming to a trail near you soon.
