Default Sections Temporary Closure -

Due to the recent storms that took place on the Olympic Peninsula and caused extensive damage, trail sections at Sadie Creek and Foothills Off-Road areas will be closed while crews assess the damage and work to clear downed limbs and trees from the trails.

DNR is asking the public to avoid cutting or bucking up downed trees and limbs; also certain sections of the trail have been washed out, creating even more unsafe conditions. Crews are working to re-open the trails as soon as possible, but it may be a week or two before the sections are passable.

To find out the status in these areas - contact Wayne Fitzwater in the Olympic Region office 360-374-2800.

Default Foothills Trail Reopens/Sadie Creek Next -

(Clallam County) The crew from the DNR's Olympic Region started working on the Foothills Trail system soon after the windstorm hit and the assessment of damage had been completed - with an exception of a small section - it has reopened; Sadie Creek ORV 4x4 trail system has remaind closed - however, good news - it is next on the priority list.

For further information or trail status report you can contact Wayne Fitzwater at: wayne.fitzwater@dnr.w.gov or (360)-374-2800. ###
