Default Tri Power Articles

I talked to Ron McDonald our Tri Power Editor today. He is looking for articles to publish. From club runs, work partys, races or anything. He is also looking for front cover photos. If anyone has pictures he would be very greatful. Cover page photos need to be high resolution, landscape will work but portrait fits better. You can email him at tripower@pnw4wda.org

After seeing the breakdown of membership dues and how much the TriPower costs per member I think the dinosaur needs to go extinct so the money could be used wisely.

Anyone that can't read it on line is not missing much and they can go to the library once a month and try 1990 technology by using their computers.

The money left over from not producing a newspaper could hire our own attorney.

I just e-mailed him this since this was brought up at the last R4 meeting:
Quote:
I was told I should send you my event reports and you can use the ones you want. I put all these on our club web site and on most of the NW forums. I know you wanted it a certain way for the Pick Up A Mountain report. What format do you need?

Here is the list of pass reports: http://www.aworc.com/event-reports/index.html

Most are mainly pictures with a few words telling the story. If you will want my reports, you can remove most of the pics to make the story.

Thanks, Clay
I think he wanted it in word last time but I can't remember. He ended up copying the pics for PUAM of the net. Maybe that is why they were so small?

On another note: I think the paper is a waste of funds that could go toward education in other ways. The on line Tri Power better. It has color pics and I do most my reading on line. Not that I read much of it because it is mainly the same thing over and over. I am not sure what educational value the Tri Power has other than telling you about meetings. It should be more of how you can do your part to save the trails and how to wheel safely. This education should be not focused toward mainly PNW4WDA members. The PNW4WDA could send out a monthly e-mail (FREE) to the on-line subscribers who want to read it. The subscribers should not have to be members to get the e-mail either since the PNW4WDA has an education non-profit status.

When I renewed my membership, I asked to opt out of receiving the Tri-power in paper form. Funny part is, last year I wasn't a member but I got the Tripower every month. The 3 years prior to that, I'd get it sporadically? Go figure?

I think we should ask every member if they want to continue receiving the paper Tripower. If enough people opt out so that it's no longer cost effective, then it goes away.

But that's just my opinion since I'm unable to vote on anything:super:

Default Tri Power Articles

Tri-Power is an opportunity for you to share your hobbie/life with friends co-workers or your doctor's office if not your local USFS office or BLM office. Ron McDonald has always helped direct me in being published to advertise an event or brag about a run. I appriciate your love of the web site it is great, but The Tri-Power is working also to get the sport out there. Because many do not take the time to read it or send articles in because they don't read the Tri-Power to know how is unfortunate and not Tri-Powers fault. Just because a bridge or trail is sitting there and you don't use it, do me a favor and leave it alone I do use it.

I think the Tri-Power should still be printed but it should be scaled back!! Send it to those that want it in paper format and then print off a few thousand more for things like 4x4 shops, news stands & other such things.

I personally feel a newsletter every month would be a better deal.

If we need to PRINT this paper like is being said then we need to make the paper PAY for itself. And it shouldn't matter who wants to put an ad in the paper. Things need to change. I don't know how to find the information about how and why the last time this was tried it didn't work.

You can do the same thing with educational material that costs 1/100 of what the Tripower sucks out of this organization and still have enough left over for attorney fees to keep up with the green extremest. You don't see them wasting money on an antique newspaper that usualy has nothing interesting to read, huge ad's looking for articles, wasted space everywhere with things blown up so there's not a blank spot. The tripower could be a very informative and entertaining newspaper once a year!
