Default Jamboree 2010

Big thanks to Sid and Kelda for all of their hard work putting on this years Jamboree. All n all things went very well. Big thanks as well to all of those that help pitch in and make this such a great event. Despite Jim and Vivians rollover we all (the Hombres) had a fantastic time as always. I will get some pics up a bit later.

I didnt take all that many pics this trip. I was playing navigator for the Rainer Ridge Rams (riding with Zukkev) as this was their first year as hosts. They did a great job and all had well prepared rigs for the trip. As luck would have it we didnt have any serious issues all week. On Wed we preran the Kaner Quartz trail as I believed this was our first run for the event(turned out I was mistaken) but things worked out anyway since we didnt get any participants to sign up for the run on friday anyway. On Thursday we ran the Rockysaddle trail and came out on the lower Kaner. Friday since we didnt get any participants the group decided to do the Clover springs run with the White Knuckle group. I stayed back in camp to try and deal with a dying refer in the MH On Sat we ran the Naches trail again with few issues. I did like the sign at the bottom of the west side though. If your familiar with this trail the trail starts out at about a 30 degree angle and goes up for a few hundred feet before leveling out. I will be sure not to take my car up the hill The pics of the red flatty are of Jim from my club on the clover springs trip. I swiped the pics from here http://www.wanderingwillys.com/ Lots more good pics there as well.

You don't need a kiddie pool

Did you guys get a permit to be on the closed Naches trail? Or did you just come up to the pass from the east side but you also disscribed the west entrance?

Yes, my understanding is that the Jamboree gets permission from the two respective ranger districts to run the Naches trail early. Some of the groups ran the west side and that permission came in only days before the trailjam...

Here is the email generated from my phone conversation with Bob. It should be noted that the Trail Jamboree as well as the PNW4WDA Naches Land manager Dave Bauman (who does most of the work) works to ready this trail for the official opening. The opening of the trail depends on trail conditions as viewed by Bob. In years past because of snow the Trail Jamboree has been denied use of the trail. We will continue to work with the FS on this and other matters. Please note the message in Bob's email. We need help and would like to ally you to get the message out.

Hi Karen.
I did speak with Merrick Graves this morning and notified him that the Naches west side will be ok for the jamboree on the 7th. I also mentioned the fact there was damage to the trail from users disregarding the Nov 15 to July 15th closure. The trail would have been in great shape except for the fact that several holes and drainage issues were created from use during the closure and wet conditions. Merrick agreed and completely understood the delemma. This seems to be a broken record every year and I am getting frustrated to the point that next year I may not open it for the jamboree if there is damage from users disregarding the closure. I know this likely is not folks in the jamboree but they can circulate this message through the grapevine quickly and hopefully educate the renegades that are causing the damage.
