Default Ochoco OHV-Oregon

The Ochoco NF has released the Ochoco Summit Draft EIS.

They have selected alternative 3, which has no class II (4x4) opportunities other than existing roads.

Alternatives 2 and 4 had up to 20 miles of trail, either new construction or reworked routes.

Need to get comments in by March 25, 2013 that this does not meet the need as outlined in the project, because of no class II opportunity.

The final EIS and ROD is scheduled to be released in May, 2013, so I don't see the USFS moving on it.

We want to have the alternative 2 class II routes included in the final, but could live with alternative 4 routes as an alternat

This is between Prineville and Mitchell south of Hwy 26 in central Oregon.

Will try to get through the 1 1/2 incher and have some more info at W/C Oregon meeting.

Comments sent today, with a cc to OR Ex Dir.

Get you comments is now, don't put it off.

We want the Class II and side by side trails from alternative 2 included in the final selection and FEIS. What they have selected does not meet the need or purpose of the project by eliminating half the OHV Classes.

If you submit electronically, please cc the OR Ex Dir., for a record for appeals and such. Thanks

This week (March 18-22) is the last time to get comments in and try to get things changed to get some trails for our rigs and the side by side folks.

Randy has comments and points on the Directors land use page to for your use.

Otherwise all we get is gravel road that you can drive down in your 'vette.

Don't blame us if you can't find a trail to go on if you don't play the game.

TODAY is the cutoff.......... Have you sent comments?????????

We need another place to play and look at the scenery in Oregon.....

I would hate to think that Randy, Jim and myself were the only people that sent comments for putting 4x4's back in the project.........

FEIS and draft ROD came out Friday, March 14, 2014. According to the Forest Supervisor, they added back in about half of the Class II trails due to comments. Have not yet seen the document, as they did not have it at the office in Prineville last Friday at noon when I was there. Should have it this week to look over. Probably looking at appeals, and notified the OR State Director and Region 6 Director.

Thanks to all who commented, and if you did, and they were "substanceive" comments, you are eligible to appeal.

We got 10 miles of trail between closed ML 1 roads conversions and new construction, along with a little over 8 miles of ML 2 roads to tie it together. It will be on the NE side of Summit Prairie.

Still going through it to see if I plan on appealing for more trail opportunities.

**EDIT** Requested more information on why the rest of the trail mileage from Alt 4 was not included, should hear back next week. (out of office until Monday.)
