Region 2 Meeting
April 21, 2011
4-Wheel Parts, Tacoma, WA
This regular meeting of the Region 2 of the Pacific Northwest 4-Wheel Drive Association was called to order at 7:35 pm by Region 2 Director Dan Morris, followed by the flag salute and a moment of silence for the sick and departed.
Roll call was taken verbally and via the sign-in sheet.
Secretary’s report- A motion was made by Derrick Clark, Rob Stafford made a motion to approve the Minutes as posted in the Tri Power.
Treasurer’s report—A motion was made by Derrick Clark, and seconded by Rob Stafford to accept the minutes as posted in Tri- Power. Motion passed
We Did It/Club Power- Kathy Greenwood is looking for some improved processes for The We Did It position. Kathy is asking “what could we do better”? Please, as Delegates we need to help with a process that would make this a smoother running position. Please contact her for any input.
Naches – There is snow currently on the Naches and it will remain on a soft close date of June 15 unless otherwise noted.
Evans Creek- The park is open there are two new seasonal officers. We are looking for a new work schedule from Evan’s Creek. Access will be closed during the week as they work on the road, the park is to be open during the weekend. Work Party rescheduled due to snow. Dates for newly rescheduled work party is: June 25th and 26th.. There will be a chainsaw class at the DNR office May 10th. Pierce County fire dept offers the CPR class. Check your local fire dept for classes and time. You have to have the CPR class certification prior to getting the Chainsaw class certification. Contact Bob Pacific at the White River Forest Service Office for further information on the Chainsaw class. Mary is looking for Boys Scout Troops to do some projects as well, she can be reached at the same office as Bob Pacific
Elbe Hills- Heath reports that the WorkParty is: April 30h, May 1st. Currently he is looking for a trailer to carry some rock to the Alder Loop trail that is need of repair.
Tahuya- DNR trail cleanup is April 23rd, hot dogs and Chili will be provided.
Land Matters- Jim Putman reports Naches and Cle Elem are closed from April to June 15th, there will be no Memorial Day wheeling. You can be on the road, you just can’t be on the trails- Your vehicle must be street legal. Tickets can be up to $1500. if you are caught on the trail. Local News papers have run articles to notify the public of this closure. This is a soft close date and should soil wetness improve, the trails could open earlier. Call before you go
There will be a work party the week prior to Memorial Day Weekend at Liberty. Please contact Dale Neuman to get on the list. It is by permit only. There is much to do and your help is needed.
Discovery Pass did pass and is headed for signature. If you have not already; please voice your opinion to your legislature.
May 10th is the date to hear about NOVA funds in Tacoma.
OHV Watch- no report
New Membership- No New members
Letter writing- Megan showed up with prizes for people who showed up. Please continue to write letters and cc: Angie. Lots of Prizes were given away!
Ways and Means- No report
PR- Diana Stafford reported that she went to Truck Fest and had great participation at the booth. Seven new members were signed up. Eric thanked everyone for participating. Please get Diana your event flyers, these are hot items and are a great draw into the PNW4WDA booths.
Future 4-Wheelers – Brody Morris reported that he is doing the Dunk Tank at Summer Convention.
Competition- Webfooters race for Mothers Day. Buggies are welcome on the rock crawl. PNW4WDA has been asked if our PA system is available for the Independent Race, it is and is available for rent for $25.
Charlie Smith has been working on another speaker system to use to add to our system. Thank you Charlie!
Moonshiners are hosting a playday Memorial Day Weekend at Straddeline
Region 2 Event/Summer Convention –Dan reports that things are moving along but he needs crew for a few events. Future FourWheelers are volunteering to do the Kid’s course. Please contact Dan for volunteering. $90 for pre registration, $100 for showing up at the gate for racing and camping, plus $5 for tech per each tech card. Camping is $50 for camping only. Spectator only is $10 per person 16 and older.
New Business- None at this time
June 11th and 12th is the 4 Wheel Parts Jamboree at Straddleline
June 18th and 19th is the Independents Race
There being no more business for the good of the order the meeting was adjourned at 9:15PM.
The next meeting will be May 19th, 2011, 7:30 pm at 4-Wheel Parts in Tacoma, WA.
