Ok I finally made it out for my walk around with Nancy... Most of the snow is gone or melting. Except in the camp ground. 4wd is going to be needed to drive around the shelter. Ok now for the trails. I only had time to walk some area's, Mainline being one of them. 80% of mainline is good but about 20 percent needs work. We will be filling some deep holes and leveling/cleaning off the bridge. On one side of the bridge there is a rut about 3 feet deep. This rut has allowed water to run under the bridge approach and erode the dirt out from under the logs put into the ground. It seems to be about 2 feet deep of erosion. This is very bad because the logs cant support the weight of the vehicle on them. This isn’t the bridge but the log approach on one side of it. Also on the mainline where we opened Alder loop up to intersect at the bottom of the hill there are 2 huge mud holes causing people to leave the trail boundaries and find alternate routes. These need to be fixed. I am assuming there are other problems we haven’t seen yet on the other trails. We also need to find a solution for the ditch on Scott Turner road next to the camp ground. Looks like a few people have been parking there and its gotten a little nasty. There is lots of trash to pick up on the trails and install some more new trail signs. Out of all the signs we put up last year the only ones missing were the ones from the busy wild. We assume they are sitting in somebody’s garage as a trophy. These signs are very expensive so please try to resist the urge to take them home as a trophy. We also need to put up some more barricades around the bathroom close to the day use parking… People still think it has drive up parking which it doesn’t… Please bring shovels, rakes, gloves, chainsaws and something to cut wire rope if you have it. We will be using wire rope to wind around the giant bundles of logs we will be filling the holes with…..
