Thats what I heard from Sam Bissel (FS) as well. They (FS) want the trail to "settle" over the winter.

It's been 'settling' for over 7 years now! what's settling? Was there any work parties on this trail this past summer? At least last year I was invited to a couple, unfortunately the invite wasn't earlier enough for me to commit to...VERY FRUSTRATING

It is frustrating but we are working with the govt. here. They did some grading work on the last section of the trail and they want that to settle in. At least were getting it back

Yes, I understand the 'good ole red, white & blue' but every year they'll continue to add something else...'thank you' for everyone's feedback & effort, it's just BS that we continue to get the runaround on this trail

I guess next year we just need to get in there like we did in the past & get it opened...IF there isn't additional beaucratic piles to tiptoe through

With the land slide on 410 by the woodshed I guess that this trail will be delayed another 7 years or so??

Nah, this is the 'settling' that was mentioned in the earlier posts...we'll just have to come around from the south side is all. Open it during a long Rimrock weekend next spring

Why do you say that? It's just as easily accessed from the Whit Pass side.

It is also rumored in the USFS that they are thinking about making the trail one way.

There's nothing wrong with that as long as people respect that rule. There's "down hill only" trails in the Rimrock area but people abuse that all the time.
