Default 4X4 run to Northeast Oregon

4X4 Trail Run in North East Oregon:

After the Glass Butte run on April 24th (Monday the 26th) Mona and I are headed further east. At this time, we will be stopping between Drewsey and Harper for some trail running. Then on Wednesday, we will be stopping by the Vale BLM district office and gathering information for the State Office.

Then we will go to Virtue Flats for a couple of day. Here we hope to meet up with some others for some trail running.

Our next stop will be at either Mt Emily OHV area or Sleds Sprigs OHV area.

All of this is still tentative at this time and we could reroute at any time to meet other 4X4 near these areas. Our intent is to get to all four areas and hopefully we will be able to find guides throughout this trip. To contact Mona or I please call my cell phone 541 419 9942.

If you try for Sled, check with the Ranger District at Enterprise, might still be quite a bit of snow up there.

Default Thank You

Thanks Warrpath I will do just that. In this case I take all the help I can get as lots of cancellation. I own a 4X4 and it is quite cable of driving over snow in the depths of over 20 feet and I love Snoooooow. Fear is just another reason for sitting on your hands at home on the couch. Randy

I have known you long enough to know your rigs are capable in any kind of conditions. I was refering more to the resource side of things. Now with the recent Mt. Emily issues, we need to be even more careful up there. The Forest Supervisor is not really that good a friend to motorized, and tends to do what will make the least amount of folks unhappy.

While it would be advantagous to look over sled due to the suit, might be better to let it dry out if needed.

Have fun on the swing up through that corner of the state.

Mud and snow is why 4X4's were created. In the early 30's. Too bad you can't join us Art. Have a good day. Jesus love ya man.

Leaving in the morning for that part of the world, but unfortunately no time to stay and play.

Default Sled Springs adventure.

Flowers in the snow at Sled Springs

USFS Cabin off one of the graveled roads.

Sled Springs is rather like a creek, that is if my GPS was correct and we actually walked the distance to the spring.

Swimming hole for when its summer and the dust replaces the snow and melt off.

The GPS showed over 6000 feet at some spots and the snow drifts showed it.

We had a nice outing yesterday at Sled Springs.

We went slow in the two tracks as they were a little sloppy.
I am always amazed at how aired down and 4x4 and slow crawl leaves an area the way we came.

We saw white tail deer two bunches and a big herd of elk on the way up to the area. The Pacific Northwest Forests are a jewel for its peoples. I pray we can keep our access.

Default Virtue!

I wanted to put the pictures in the photo section but the thread was here so I will continue the saga:

What we found in Eastern Oregon we love:

A gal and her horse in an OHV area with a smile and a wave!

In the parking lot down town:

Another YJ with its front feet in the air:

Gullies to run with plenty of angle.

New friends:

Inclines:

Air:

North
Eastern
Oregon
4 wheelers

Thank you for a great Sunday outing. Virtue is awesome. The dampness really added to the rocks...I will always be planning our return trip and already have volunteers to accompany us...

Great bunch of rigs and it was wonderful to run with such a nice group.

My wife's photo bucket site has more of the run:
