Default All Wheelers Father's Day Run above the Nile (6-20-10)

All Wheelers Off Road Club -
Father's Day Run
above the Nile.
Saturday June 19, 2010

Friday evening the Havo Family found someone left a camp a mess and they cleaned it.
They picked up a bag and a half of trash.

On Saturday June 19th, 2010 we meet up at the All Wheelers Off Road Club camp site at Saw Mill Flats for the run.
We headed out around 10 AM taking FS1601 up to the Mud Springs Trail / 4W696. I rode along with BlindPilot in his TJ.

Turning up the trail.

We did not get to far when Guido bent his tie rod on a stump in the trail.
We stopped for the first break as they replaced Guido's tie rod with one Scuba brought along.

Colemancooler and his Father.

A few miles up the trail we ran into snow.

We walked up to see how much snow there was on the trail.

We decided it was too much for as many rigs we had with us and headed back to the Jeep.

A quick look off the ridge at the William O. Douglas wilderness area.

We called back to the others on the CB to turn around.

Heading back down 4W696.

We regrouped at 4W665 and had lunch.

After lunch we headed down 4W665.
We did not get to far before we founds some trees down across the trail. Volunteers moved them.

We put a few miles in and stopped at this meadow to regroup.
This was the first sign of recent tire tracks on 4W665.

Moving on.

The trail got real easy for a stretch. Then came the Most Difficult rated part.
It was off camber but not too bad. We had a few creek crossing which were cool.

This hill stopped us since it was steep and wet. BlindPilot gave it a few runs and but could not top it.
We decided since we had a lot of rigs with us we did not want to spend the time winching everyone up.

We turned around and headed back up the ridge on the other side of Glass Creek.

Scuba and some of his friends went a head and took the hill climb.
Reports were that most of them made the climb but had to winch up a Sami.

As we are back tracking BlindPilot kind of lost a part.
Do you see the missing part on the ground? lol

Yes the driver's rear coil jumped off the rig. BlindPilot moved the rig up to flatter ground.

With a highlift jack the spring was put back in with ease.

Ones we got up the trail to FS1605, we headed over to FS1600 and ran it up to Little Bald Mountain.
We saw a cougar watching us come up.

Once at the parking area we lost site of the cougar.
It most have ran off since no one got ate as they got out of their rigs to see the view.

Heading back down.

We split up at FS1600. Some went home or back to camp and the rest headed toward Clover Springs.

Here Havo finds his front locker is not working.

After Havo got his truck out, a few more headed out.

We push on with 3 rigs.

The snow really turned bad and keep pushing us toward the trees.
We decided it was time to turn around too.

Back at camp I was told I just miss Merrick (ORV Ranger).
I would have like to seen him.

On Sunday we packed up for home.
This was a great Father's Day Run thanks to all who came.
Thanks for the ride BlindPilot!

Looks like you guys had a good time. I ran around up there on Friday I must of went past before you all pulled into camp. I spend so much time on the trails there I just ran every road in the 1601 and 1613 and 1611 drainages. Saw lots of critters including a litter of Coyotes but I was't lucky enough to spot a Cougar.

Hoping to catch up with you and your group someday I would like to tag along.

We must have pulled into camp about 12:30-1 PM on Friday. Saturdays run was great. The first time up those trail for many of us. It was great to see the trails were not over used like the ones down the road. A few places it was hard to see where he trail was because of the new grass covering the path. The trails were marked well at the road crossings. That was a big plus or we would have been screwed knowing where to go. We will be back after the snow melts.

It was a lot of fun Dave. We hope to get back there when the snow melts to see the rest.
