Default Need ideas/suggestions

I have a 74 CJ5, mostly stock with an AMC 360 and 3 speed. Due to health reasons, I am looking at swapping the tranny to an automatic. Has anyone already done this or have ideas? Biggest concerns are what cross-member to use, which tranny is best, etc.

The automatics that came OE in the CJ's should be the Mopar Torqueflight 727.

Try these sites for more info as I have seen conversions done.

The T350 is going to be about the shortest unit. The auto CJ's were all CJ-7's or longer wheel bases. Will need to either change transfer cases or go with an adapter, and an adapter for the engine to bell, and fab a x-member and do the drivelines. The big issue will be the rear being very short and steep angles for the u-joints. The 350 will be OK behind a 360 in either stock or mild build form.
