Default Tire width outside to outside

Since there are width restrictions at 75 inches on some Trail Jam runs, do you know really how wide your tires are outside to outside? Some of the oversize wide tires will surprise you how wide you really are.

What is your rig?
What is the tire width on what width wheels?
How wide are the tires outside to outside?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are mine:

89 XJ
12.5 wide tires on 8x15 rims. I think 3.75 back spacing.
From outside to outside about 72.50 front / 73.75 rear

99 XJ
10.5 wide tires on 8X16 rubicon rims. I think 5" back spacing.
From outside to outside about 69.75 front / 70.5 rear

79 FS Jimmy
12.3 wide tires on 7.5x16 stock GM rims.
From outside to outside about 79" in front / Rear not as wide but I have the tires off right now so I can't run a tape.

The measurements are not on the ground since they change with air pressure.

Very interesting numbers Clay. I'll ask my son to measure my 90 blazer with 37s (inside wheel wells) but I know my rock slider, front bumper and rear bumper are approx 2 inches wider as I made them to protect body.

I just had a surgery Monday so shouldn't be crawling arond the truck yet. :cool_shades:

It looks like the Jimmy body width is very close to width of my front tires outside to outside. I don't have my new front bumper yet and don't have rock sliders either. That will change the over all width a little.

EDIT: My numbers could be off a little since my 5 year old held the other end of the tape. We did it twice though.

Well the 79 and 90 are the same body so mine is close. What is the wheelbase on a Jimmy/Blazer? I read somewhere in the Trail Jam rules short wheelbase means 100 inches. They must have included the IH Scout because it is 100 inches. CJ's are shorter and even my TJ was 96 I think... anyway sorry to highjack hope more people chime in.

My 79 is even close to your 90 since I have a 87 nose clip.

The Jimmy is 106" axle to axle. 6" over.
My XJ is 100.5 axle to axle. 1/2" over.

I wonder how close the JKs are to those numbers.

Those measurements for me will have to wait until it's warmer out. It's real cold here today.
