Default BLM in Western Oregon

OREGON - BLM Seeks Public Input On Recreation Area, River Use

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

For many decades now, some federal land managers have all but ignored vehicle based recreation. Nowhere more than in western Oregon. Well, now is your chance to let them know where you go and what you like to do.

The Oregon BLM, to their credit, recently posted a dedicated website designed to survey public lands visitors on what recreational activities they engage in. The effort is tied to the revision of western Oregon BLM's Resource Management Plans.

BLM's Recreational Survey webpage is here: http://www.blm.gov/or/plans/rmpswest...eccomments.php

The webpage is super easy and well designed. It asks eight key questions about your preferred recreational activities. The website also asks what new opportunities you want them to provide.

BLM is asking the public to take the survey by February 18, 2013.

But there is more!
In addition to web based outreach tools, the BLM will be holding District specific open houses across Western Oregon to engage the public and receive input specific to the recreation components being analyzed as part of this planning effort. The dates and locations for these open houses are currently being identified, and will be posted at the following link: http://www.blm.gov/or/plans/rmpswesternoregon/index.php

Again, to their credit, the Oregon BLM is encouraging you to get involved and tell them how important recreation is on BLM lands throughout western Oregon. For more information please contact Zach Jarrett, recreation representative for the Resource Management Planning team at zjarrett@blm.gov or (503) 931-6184.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact BRC.

Thanks in advance for your support,
