Gifford Pinchot Road Analysis meeting Tuesday March 18th
Road Analysis Public Meeting March 18
Release Date: Mar 12, 2014
Contact(s): Diana Perez
On March 18, 2014, from 6-8 p.m., The Gifford Pinchot National Forest will once again reach out to concerned citizens regarding its efforts to create an economically and ecologically sustainable forest road system.
The main meeting will take place at Forest Headquarters (10600 NE 51 Cir. Vancouver, WA), with video teleconferencing participation available at the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District Office in Randle, WA, the Mt. Adams Ranger District office in Trout Lake, WA and the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument offices in Amboy, WA. Space is limited at these viewing locations.
“We have done a lot of work in the past year seeking to understand what people said in six community meetings and the information they provided through a questionnaire last fall,” said Community Engagement Staff Officer, Tracy Calizon. “Now it’s time to share what we learned and validate our findings. We also want to update the public on the overall Travel Management Planning process, and highlight how they can continue to contribute to the analysis.”
Meeting participants will be asked to help the forest identify a sustainable road network for the future, keeping in mind declining road-maintenance budgets, along with economic and ecologic impacts.
The questionnaire is available here or on the forest website at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/giffor...telprdb5388890
