Default WTB - Jeep Trailer Parts 1946 Bantam

I just scored a 1946 Bantam trailer Easter morning. Looking for parts info, anything someone may have out there, and hitch options. I have been hearing about the "Lock N Roll" hitch. I am missing the front landing leg as well.

Any info from your wealth of knowledge out there would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Fred

Take a look at G503.com for the mil stuff. Neat site for the 1/4 ton trailers.

Got an absolute beauty staked out, but can't bring myself to pull the trigger on it, even though it is well worth every penny due to the condition.

Thanks for the info. I will try that site tonight.

Good luck on your trailer decision. It is tough to take the leap with the cost but they are worth it. Mine ended up being 2 miles from me in Kirkland and the price was amazing.

Check out Ebay. I bought my trailer off that site. I often surf and find much for those trailers. I also have a few links to sites. I'll have to get them off the old puter though so it may take a day or 2.

I have been checking EBay and Craigslist daily. And Googling everything to do with military trailers. The wish list is building. If you have any good links you can pass on, please do.

Thanks

Default 1946 Bantam

Here are a few pics of the trailer the day I picked it up. Just ordered the canvas military tarp cover and picking-up a Con-Ferr 4x6 rack in the morning from a Craigslister. Will fit perfectly, hinged on top of the trailer with a roof-top tent. Someday

Nice. I just picked up one as well. The one I got has tailgates on both ends. Great for hauling planks and such for building bridges at workpartys.

It would appear at first glance that you bought a civilian model BT3C. Although some state inspectors will tell you there was no such thing and make you change the title even with documented serial #'s.

I believe I have seen these 2 site but will check again. Thank you very much.

I am pretty sure it is a civilian from the discriptions I have read so far - original tailgate, 3 hooks on sides, etc.

Now I need new springs for it. The originals are shot. And I want to flip the axle.

There is some rust around the edge of the bed flooring. I might replace, depending on what it looks like after some clean-up.

Picked-up the Con-Ferr rack for the top. Should work nicely when hinged and sealer water-tight.
