Yes turn right on it and it will take you to the 70 rd

Right turn as you are going East or West? I was thinking maybe to the right as you are driving headed west (up hill) maybe would put you somewhere on Pyramid Pass near FS7080 but can't think where it would come out.

Then the other thought it could have a gate at one end or another.

Sure would have been nice if they had a detour sign showing the way around. We did turned right on it as we were headed toward the west side and took another right and another right and came down on FS1914 close to NF19.
