The Jamboree committee is considering adding a new feature to the registration this year. :cool_shades:

Trail assignment made as part of registration. You would chose your run for each day. Have not worked out all the muddled stuff yet, however this is something I have brought up for a couple of years.

Not saying it's going to happen for sure yet but thought I could get some feedback from anyone caring to discuss this. :jkam:

1. How will that work with the fury of the registration grab and dash?

2. If a select trail run is picked by 60 people for one particular day will that be a problem?

Lightbulb Trail lottery

I've never been a fan of the land rush trail signup because it rewards the more agressive people and those with nothing more important to do than stand in line for a long time.

It is even worse for signup at registration because the first person in gets exactly what they want every day and the last one in gets the leftovers, if any, every day.

What I had suggested the last time there was a discussion about tail signup for Trailjam was a form of lottery. Each day, people's registration numbers would be drawn out of a hat to determine the order in which they could sign up for their choice of trail. They could include up to four (or whatever number you choose) of their friends, if there were enough slots available.

Something similar could work for online signup during registration. Each person puts the trails in order from most desirable to least desirable and provides a list of friends they want to run with. After all registrations are in, we randomly select people and assign them and their friends to the most desirable trail that has enough slots available.
