Executive Director's Report
July, 2006
Tillamook State Forest-A trail repair work party was held on
July 8th hauling rock trying to repair and open trails. Not alot of
volunteers were there so the work didn't get finished, with another work party
scheduled in September. Cedar Tree trail is now open. Randy Peterson of the
Tillamook State Forest will be taking applications and assigning trails for
the Adopt-a-Trail program. Please call if interested.
Mike Law of Oregon State Parks will have the Safety trailer
on display at the Oregon State Fair in
Salem, August 25th thru September 4th 10:30-2:30 and 2:30-6:30. He will need
some volunteers to greet people and answer questions. If ou have time to
participate, contact

Mt. Hood National Forest- A congressional bill was given
unamious backing that would set aside 77,500 acres of the Mt Hood National
Forest as protected wilderness off-limits to logging, roads, and motor
vehicles. The bill was sponsored by Rep. Greg Walden from Hood River and
Earl Blumenauer of Portland, and would secure the rugged Roaring River and
towering 1000-year-old trees, within Mt. Hood's first new wilderness in more
than 20 year. I have placed calls to Senator Wyden and Senator Smith for
information regarding their views on this issue and will keep you posted.
