Sunday, January 8, 2006 Renton, WA: On November 5-6 thirty-five off-highway vehicle enthusiasts participated in a National Off-Highway Vehicle Association Development Workshop and an AMA “Ride Into Political Action” Seminar. The outcome of the weekend was a decision by the participants to develop a statewide association that can represent the interests of off-highway motorcycle, ATV and four-wheel drive enthusiasts and OHV businesses. Ed Bushnell, President of the North West Outdoor Coalition and one of the workshop participants, states, “The NWOC is in full support of the development of a new umbrella organization for Washington State. The Northwest Motorcycle Association further supports the proposed action according to Rick Dahl, President of the NMA. “NMA believes a great opportunity for the motorized community in Washington State is before us and actively supports the efforts to form the proposed Washington OHV Alliance." Arlene Brooks, Washington State Director of the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association, stated, “The four wheel drive community supports and believes the proposed Off-Highway Vehicle Alliance, through education, will provide proactive stewardship and responsible family recreation within the state.” Formal development of the Alliance will take place in two
meetings held over the next six months. A Development meeting is scheduled for
Sunday, January 8 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the The Development meeting agenda will include work on the Alliance mission, establishment of an action plan, selection of interim officers, identification of necessary committees, and assignment of responsibilities. The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in OHV recreation. Assigned tasks and schedules will be sensitive to family and work obligations. Registration is required.
