REGION 4 MINUTES
Pasco, WA
July 10, 2018

Director Earl Nettnin (Desert Rats) called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and a moment of silence for the sick and departed was observed. No guests were present.

MINUTES: Ed Massey (Columbia Basin Sand Commandos) made a motion seconded by Char Massey (Columbia Basin Sand Commandos) that we accept the minutes from June 12, 2018 in East Wenatchee, WA as printed; motion carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT was given by Treasurer Sande Nettnin (Desert Rats), we are waiting for bills from Dale Neuman (High Country Cruisers) for gas transporting the Jeep Eugene where it needed to go for repairs and the bill for t-shirts for our Competition Race Team.

COMP REPORT: nothing new to report.

MEMBERSHIP: Please make sure your current person of contact's information is correct.

CLUB POWER/WE DID IT Chairman Gary Harting (Desert Rats) was not present, their son was married in Hawaii last week. We have paper work for him from the Moses Lake Sand Dunes cleanup, the Liberty work party and the work party before Jamboree.

JR. JEEPERS: We are still looking for someone to take this on.

PUAM (Pick Up A Mountain) is September 14-16, 2018. Camping for the weekend is $20. If you would like to help contact Alicia Palachuk (Shindig Wheelers) at 509- 697-4178 or apalachuk@charter.net. The Columbia Basin Sand Commandos will cook and serve breakfast on Sunday again.

TRAIL JAMBOREE: was successful and everyone had a great time. We understand that Dash Plaques will be mailed out. The food was good, and the entertainment in the evenings seemed to go well. Discussion followed on getting more people involved, we need more security on the front gate, 24-7.

PR Chairman Jim Hall (Jeeping Nomads) has had shoulder surgery, but he is still able to send out notifications.

LAND MATTERS:
TRAVEL MANAGEMENT PLAN is still a work in progress.

NACHES COLLABORATIVE is having a working group meeting July 19th at the Naches Ranger Station from 12:30 4:30 PM. The Steering Committee meets regularly, Ron Rutherford (Jeeping Nomads) represents us.
Point of interest, the logging on the Huckleberry, Dry Creek and Glass Angel and Tower are active sights.

TRAIL PARTNERS signage is being put up. Ron Rutherford was in charge of getting this done, he got material donated for the signs and a local high school routered and finished them, (they look great). Doug Conner (Roamin Chariots) helped the Jeeping Nomads put the signs up in the Rim Rock Area. People commented that the Forest Service really did a good job on the signs the only thing Forest Service did was OK the job.

TWIG we received a notice that this summer is the 50th Anniversary of the National Scenic Trails Act. This is hiking trails. If you want more information on this contact Bill Zimmer Resource Assistant for the Forest Service at williamzimmer@fs.fed.us.

RCO GRANTS are having a travel meeting of the Recreation and Conservation Funding Board July 18 & 19 at Sun Mountain Lodge, 604 Patterson Lake Road, Winthrop, WA. This is a public meeting. TAPASH working group meeting July 19th at the Naches Ranger Station 12:30 4:30 PM.

CLUB REPORTS
Desert Rats Earl Nettnin reported that part of our club were trail hosts at Jamboree and some did the TECH Inspection. Our host group did a work party on Monday before Jamboree to fix a puncheon on the Naches Trail.

Columbia Basin Sand Commandos Ed Massey said one of their club was a trail host at Jamboree. They all plan to attend Pick Up A Mountain in September.

Roamin Chariots - Doug Conner reported they went to the Jeeping Nomads annual get together at Rim Rock. They had a good time putting out signs and picking up garbage. Gary Lease from the Forest Service came up and asked if they could haul out some garbage that they had bagged. Gary had with him the new person who was hired to run the trail machines. Doug also said they hauled out a very used up trailer, it did have tires on it, but didn't hold much air so they had fun getting it out.

Midnite Mudders John Thompson said some went to Trail Jamboree and had a good time. Tori said the river was cold and she learned that she would not sing Karaoke again. John said they were having a car wash on Saturday, July 14th at the Firestone dealer on Road 68 in Pasco, WA to help a family in Finley who lost their wife and mother. Donation jars are out in the community. See the Mudders Facebook page for more information.

Trail Seekers Skip Frans said a couple of them attended the Northwest Overlanders Rally. He did his Ham Radio presentation. A couple of their club went to Liberty. He hosted with Cascade 4X4's at Trail Jamboree. They plan to go to Pick Up A Mountain.

GOOD OF THE ORDER
The donations for the Ramynke family at Trail Jamboree was quite successful. If you would like to make a donation to the family contact PNW President Angie Marek at offroadangie@aol.com.

Doug Conner stressed that we really need to get our young people involved in the PNW or the trails we know and love will go away. A lot of us are getting older and just can't keep doing all the work. Lots of discussion followed on this. We have no answer as to how to do this, but we need to do something.

Ed and Char Massey's granddaughter graduated from High School with also a 2 year college degree. She plans to attend WSU this fall. Their grandson got married in Wenatchee in June.

Skip Frans (Trail Seekers) said the Rainier Scramblers and*Cascade 4x4 are having a show and shine July 21 at the Buckley Logger*grounds. Proceeds go to an injured loggers family. They hope to make it*an annual event
