Default June 2016 minutes

Region 2 Delegates Meeting
June 16, 2016

Call to order by President Brandon Marek at 7:30, followed by flag salute and a moment of silence.
Secretary’s Report: motion made by Derrick Clark and seconded by Connie Largen to accept the minutes as printed. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Due to some issues, report not available. There will be a report at the next meeting.

Club Power/We Did It: Reminder to send in your paperwork.

Naches: Dave is very ill and will have to decline being the chair person for the Naches. Red Necks and Rugrats will help, and perhaps the Webfooters, while looking for a replacement.

Sadie Creek: Neil Morgan is still in touch with the DNR. The DNR took some pictures of staging and is marking out parking, camping, and a new trail. We need a club to volunteer to manage this area.

Evans: There is a new seasonal guy, he was there about 3-4 years ago. Host weekend spots still available. The equipment operator that was hired quit before ever making out on the trails.

Elbe: Next work party is the 2nd weekend in July.

Tahuya: DNR okayed a new trail system, no date yet. Great comments back about the 55 trail. Fun Run June 18th. 4 LEO’s will be there to monitor behavior.

Land Matters:
Elbe Hills: The next user meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 14th, 2016 at the fire station in Graham, WA. Work parties will be held the 2nd Saturday of every month. Logging has started for the new campground.
Evans Creek: Next FS meeting will be held on July 11th, 2016 at the Enumclaw DNR building.
Tayhua: DNR meetings will be cancelled for the next few months. There has been discussion with the DNR about creating a shooting range to keep target shooters from shooting towards any trails.
Greenwater/Naches Trail: A few projects are scheduled to get completed this year, mainly along the Naches Trail. FS sponsored work parties will be held June 25-26 and September 24-25, 2016+. The last work party was a huge success! A large “burrito” was build using machinery to fix some mud holes along the trail.
Walker Valley: Waiting for updated information.
Reiter Foothills ORV: Next focus group meeting will be held June 25th, 2016 at the Snohomish County Courthouse. The area is now open 7 days a week from 9am to 7 pm. A work party will be held on June 25th at 9am.
Liberty: Waiting for updated information.
Yacolt Burn: New trail is currently being built. Has a lot of natural rock obstacles.
Colville National Forest: The Colville Forest Plan Revision was released on February 19th, 2016 for a 90 day public comment period. The comment period has been extended and will now end July 5th, 2016.
Teanaway Community Forest: Progress has been slow due to lack of funding.
Other: Okanagon-Wenatchee National Forest Draft Travel Plan has been sent out for public comment. This is mostly related to ATV use being opened to more trails and banning cross-country driving except in the Funny Rocks and Moon Rocks area. The comment period will be open for 45 days from June 8th.

OHV Watch: No report

Letter Writing: No report

Membership: Nothing new to report

Ways and Means: Stickers still available.

Public Relations: Nothing new to report.

Future 4 Wheelers: Still looking for a chair person.

Competition: Race schedule is on the PNW website. New comp books have been printed and are available. The work party at Ethel went well. There have been 2 races so far. Steve Zentner sent an apology e-mail for not splitting Summer Convention 2015 profits with the Regions. He is asking that the monies, approximately $550.00, stay with the PNW comp fund to help put on Summer Convention this year. Motion made by Heath Moyer and seconded by Mike Cowan to leave the monies in the comp fund. Motion carried.
The PNW Comp Committee is hosting Summer Convention and is looking for volunteers. Will Region 2 or a club volunteer to chair?
