Default Region 4 minutes November 13, 2018

November 13, 2018

Director Earl Nettnin (Desert Rats) called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and a moment of silence for the sick and departed was observed. No guests were present.

MINUTES: John Thompson (Midnite Mudders) made a motion seconded by Doug Conner (Roamin' Chariots) that we accept the minutes from October 9, 2018 with the correction on the date for 2019 Pick Up A Mountain as September 20, 21 & 22, 2019; motion carried.

TREASURER'S REPORT was given by Treasurer Sande Nettnin (Desert Rats). We received a reminder that our WOHVA dues are due in January. A motion was made to pay our WOHVA dues in the amount of $100 by Doug Conner, seconded by Gary Harting (Desert Rats); motion carried.

COMP REPORT: There will be some COMP rule changes to vote on before Winter Convention, these are printed in Tri-Power along with the ballot. Everyone with a COMP number can vote and send the ballot to Steve Zentner the PNW COMP Chairman by January 31st. 2019. You will find all this information in Tri-Power.

MEMBERSHIP: please make sure that your person of contact listed on the Web Site is current and up to date. Our PNW dues for 2019 are due January 1, 2019.

CLUB POWER/WE DID IT: Chairman Gary Harting (Desert Rats) presented a detailed report on paperwork for PUAM. Travel miles driven one way 7,637 contributed by 10 clubs, guest miles 991 for a total of 8,628 miles.
The breakdown on miles for clubs: Cascade 4X4 miles driven 510 and guest miles100; Peak Putters miles driven 571; Dust Dodgers (Motor Cycle club) miles driven 111; Trail Seekers miles driven 260; Shindig Wheelers miles driven 457 and guest miles 400; High Country Cruisers miles driven 756; Timberwolves miles driven 210 and guest miles 100; Jeeping Nomads miles driven 300; Desert Rats miles driven 2,772 and guest miles 130; Columbia Basin Sand Commandos miles driven 1,350 and guest miles 150; Individual Member miles driven 451.
John Thompson turned in paper work for Juniper Dunes. Gary said he had got back paper work on the Moses Lake Sand Dunes cleanup that needed some clarifications so he has enlisted Lola Hayes (Columbia Basin Sand Commandos) for help. Gary is also keeping the Quill power letters until we get more clarification on what to do with them. John Thompson asked if there was a deadline for turning in letters, Gary said he didn't know, so we will check it out.
JR JEEPERS: We still need a person to take this on. Mikki Douglass of the Cle Elum Ranger District is willing to help anyone who takes this on as she wants to get her Jr. Ranger program going again.

PICK UP A MOUNTAIN: Chairman Pam Remley (Shindig Wheelers) applied for a grant from Extreme Terrain for PUAM and she was notified that she got it. So we will be receiving money and product to hand out.

Travel Management – is still a work in progress and we understand that it is still in committee and studies.

Naches Collaborative – a meeting will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 from 6 – 8 PM at the Naches Ranger Station to discuss the Little Crow Environmental Assessment everyone is invited to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and solicit comments to an amendment to the Northwest Forest Plan regarding late sccessional reserves, a proposal for potential changes to a small number of road designations that were previously analyzed and a brief update from the Little Naches Working Group.

Trail Partners have put up signage in the Rim Rock area. Trail Partners had a meeting October 25, 2018 .Gary Harting reported they discussed several projects that had been completed or were being worked on. The next meeting will be December 13, 2018 at 6 PM at the Naches Ranger Station.

Blue Mountain Forest Plan – comment period is closed. They are reviewing the objections.

Juniper Dunes – Doug Conner said lots of stakes and equipment is out there and they will be moving dirt soon. Doug also said they were looking for a name for the road and he would submit the name Cecil Road.

Swauk Pine – is moving forward. Dale Neuman (High Country Cruisers) is keeping an eye on this for us.

Milk Creek Re-route will be worked on the last weekend of June 2019.

Taneum Restoration Project – nothing new, seems it's a done deal.

Beverly Dunes Cleanup – was pretty well attended. John Thompson and daughter Tori, Doug Conner, Earl Nettnin and Ed Livezey were some of them in attendance. The garbage picked up filled a small dumpster.

South Fork of the Ahtanum gate had been reported that it had been vandalized only that was false.

Skip Frans (Trail Seekers) reported on the WA State Trails Conference held in East Wenatchee the end of October. He said along with himself Dale & Diane Neuman, Lisa Chissus (The Hombres & our WA Exe.) and her husband Craig and Nicole Phillips from Region 2 represented motorized. He said it was a worthwhile meeting, however, he felt some of the sessions didn't apply. John Thompson and Tori made a great poster showing some of the things we do and it seemed to draw a lot of attention, most of the attendees didn't realize that we did work parties to repair trails as well as cleanups. Skip said he thought we had made a good impression. Skip said they talked about how we could get more groups involved. WOHVA was also there and discussed getting more interaction with them and the PNW.

Blue Ribbon (SHARETRAILS.ORG) has a new Executive Director Spencer Gilbert, he says the future is bright only the battles are getting tougher. Spencer says more than ever, they are devoted to “Preserving our Natural Resources FOR the Public Instead of FROM the Public. His plan is to return to the basics and their original mission. He plans to aggressively work on the legislative and political side to create long and enduring change.

Winter Convention 2019 – packets were mailed out. Winter Convention will be February 8-10, 2019 hosted by the PNW Board at Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores, WA. Make your reservation soon.

Insurance - If you are wanting to use the PNW's event insurance get your application filled out and turned in to Carol Jensen before Winter Convention.

Region 4 officers for 2019 – nominations opened tonight and will re-open in January and be voted on. Region 4 Director, John Thompson; Vice Director, Skip Frans; Secretary/Treasurer, Tori Thompson and Lead Land Matters, Dale Neuman.

Desert Rats - Gary Harting reported some went to the Beverly Dunes cleanup November 3rd; and we participated in the Veteran's Day Parade in West Richland November 10th followed by lunch at Round Table Pizza in Richland. We had 13 member vehicles and 2 guest vehicles. We all had a good time and there was a good crowd.

Midnite Mudders – John Thompson reported he and Tori went to the Beverly Dunes cleanup November 3rd, also they participated in the Veteran's Day Parade in West Richland November 10th.

Roamin' Chariots – Doug Conner reported that one third of the club went to the Beverly Dunes cleanup November 3rd. They are working on plans for next year's activities.

Trail Seekers – Skip Frans reported he had gone to the WA State Trails Conference meeting, He and Dale Neuman went with the Forest Service on a work party on the 319. The Trail Seekers had their own work party to work on their rigs. Three of them are going this weekend to Walker Valley for a benefit poker run. Skip also said one of their candidates, Symon Ball purchased an older Jeep Cherokee to work on.

GOOD OF THE ORDER – Tori Thompson made girls basketball varsity for Columbia High in Burbank, congrats.
