Default Region 3 meeting minutes for April 2016

Region 3 Meeting
April 19, 2016

The April 19, 2016, Region 3 meeting was called to order by Region Director Marty Tilford at 7:08 pm, followed by a moment of silence for the sick and departed. The meeting was held at 4 Wheel Parts in Portland, Oregon.

Following clubs were represented: 4 At A Time, Dirt Minions, Free Wheelers, Flat Broke and 4 Wheelin’, Hubs In 4 Wheelers, Mud a Rama, Mud Puppies, Our Gang Off Road, Pistons Wild-Washington, PNW Individual Members, Push n Pull, Sand Fleas, and Vancouver 4 Wheelers.

Rick Smith moved to accept the minutes as printed in Tri-Power. Seconded by Tom Fisher. Motion passed.

Officer reports:
Region director: Marty is continuing to work on an email list of region members. If you have any concerns feel free to contact Marty. or by phone at 360 600-5300.

Vice-director: Kristin is providing membership information to the Sons of The Beaches, a prospective club. Contact for Kristin

Secretary: no report.

Treasurer: Kyle presented the financial report. Rick Smith moved to approve, seconded by Steve Gritman. Motion passed.

Competition report.: The PNW Comp Chairman is meeting with the Port of Chehalis and the Chehalis Fairgrounds for possible playday sites. Watch for future reports. Upcoming events: Moonshiners May 28-30, Ethel Event (Outdoor 4X4s) June 18-19, and 4 at a Time July 7-8. Negotiations ongoing on the Grass Valley site. Contact Kyle

Oregon Land Matters 1 trail at Nicolai OHV area is closed for maintenance. LaDee 830 is closed because of high water. April 29 SOLV cleanup at Browns Camp-meet at 8:30 at the Sand Shed. Beaver Dam Rock Pit is closed. Kingsley (Hood River) is open. Greg Haigwood gave a report on the LaDee Cleanup that was held on April 9th. There were 115 volunteers, working 500 hours and picking up 4,520 pounds of trash. Five PNW clubs attended. Also built fences on the 800 trail. Thirty-five door prizes were donated with a value of $1,500+ were given to participants. The Trash-a-roo was one of the most popular prizes. Contact for Greg is

Washington Land Matters: The DNR (Department of Natural Resources) is reviewing the Yacolt Burn 6 mile Project. Pick Up the Burn is May 7th and the trails will open on Saturday April 30th. Staging for the Pick Up the Burn is at Jones Creek staging area and at the Rock Creek campground. Sign in starts at 8:00am with the safety meeting at 9:00am. Ending at 2 pm at Jones Creek with a BBQ lunch provided. Reiter Trails is open only on weekends. Contact Daryl at

IAD: Legislation introduced regarding public lands to modify the boundaries of three wilderness areas in Idaho, designate and expand wilderness areas in Olympic National Forest in Washington and designate land administered by BLM and the Forest Service as wilderness and national recreation areas in Oregon. Russ Ehnes, NOHVCC will represent recreation on National Advisory Committee for Implementation of the National Forest System Land Management Planning Rule. In our opinion Russ will do a good job. We Did It/Club Power/Quill Power: nothing new

Ways and Means: Trash-a-roos available $50.00 each. Marty contacted the PNW ways and means and is getting 9 more to sell in our region.

Clubs were asked to send their tax ID number to Kristin. Kristin and Marty will contact clubs for email addresses etc. contact for Kristin

Teresa reported through Greg that she had good feed back on the trash-a-roo as a door prize for the LaDee Cleanup. Greg moved to donate $50 to purchase from the PNW a trash-a-roo to donate to the Pick Up the Burn. Seconded by Rick Smith. Motion passed. Good PR opportunity. Contact Teresa

New Business: Rose Festival Driving and Towing. Tom will need 13 float drivers and towers for 2016 Rose Parade. He will also need 1 tower for the Starlight Parade. Rose Parade is June 10-12.

Piston’s Wild-attended LaDee Cleanup, worked on University Fire Power and Waterfall (Tillamook)
PNW Individual Members-working on Sand Flea Rally
Push and Pulls: will run a checkpoint at Sand Flea Rally
Vancouver 4 Wheelers—going to Sand Flea Rally

Meeting adjourned 7:59 pm
