Another prespective from anothers eyes!
Big Deel (A Member of Dog Pound Off-Road) and I went to the Wohva Annual meeting, Where we were able to Vote their new Bylaws into action and their new plan to restructure to become 501c3 a Charitable Org. This move was based on several months of research done by Brian Peterson and other board members. One of the reasons to be a registered Supporting Club was to have voting privileges. "We just voted that away". **With this new organizational structure we are trusting them to act on our behalf "without Club approval". They posted a copy of their new Bylaws that was a unanimous vote there was tons of discussion I really (IMO) don't think people wanted to give up their voting rights but in the end they did. It was explained that with the new structure there will be services that now cost them money will soon be donated for free because they are 501c3. For some of you old timers here you remember one of the exciting things to be heard about WOHVA was that they had a Paid lobbyist. Well They are not bringing in enough funds to pay for a lobbyist anymore. WOHVA NOVA Grant WOHVA'S Grant Application (staff comments expected before holidays) * Issue: heavy maintenance backlog on 4wd, ATV, & SxS/two-track trails and areas * Solution: WOHVA Heavy Maintenance Crew, statewide shared resource * Grant will fund the WOHVA Heavy Maintenance Crew for 2019-2020 Purchase heavy equipment: Bobcat E32 w/ attachments Operational expenses: maintenance, paid workers, transport, consumables, etc. Machine Operators: part paid/part volunteer; training provided * Trail Design: Utilize NOHVCC and DNR best practices; Develop and expand * Club and Volunteer Driven: both to prioritize work sites and conduct work What We Need From YOU * Grant support: Letters of support (more pending staff comments?) * Work support: Identify/Prioritize needs, Volunteer for Work Parties, Spread the word *** They are asking for a NOVA Grant to purchase Equipment and pay a crew to have an on call Trail Maintenance/building Crew. (They base this off another ORG that has this type of crew and has had much success, both forest service and DNR praised. At which these outfits would be excited to have this type of asset available to call and make things happen. Also questions were brought up asking if They Had a .... strategic recreation plan?.... The answer / Buck was passed on to WOHVA President saying he was tasked with producing this Plan. A work in progress. ******* This is my report in it's entirety as best I remember ***** Feel free to contact me for any discussion or post here and I will try my Best to answer. I love these smilies ![]() ![]() ![]()
