Default Blue Mtn. Forest Plan

This plan covers three National Forests and part of a fourth in NE Oregon and a little in SE Washington.

The USFS is trying to engage the public and is looking to see what they have missed or if the public is wanting portions of the other alternatives "cherry picked" and put into the "preferred alternative" ( Alt. E ). I am a member of the subgroup on the RAC, and we have been tasked with going back to our stakeholders to get that information. We will be having a conference call in late May to pull together that information and draft up a comment for the entire RAC to consider at our June meeting.

Please go to the USFS website and pull up the Blue Mountain Forest Plan and take a look and get your comments to me by the 10th of May.

While this plan will not mandate closures by itself it does change management direction in several areas that will cause closures due to that management change. It also calls for a "sustainable road system that meets needs and budget" Those actions will come on a forest level project down the road a piece, but some are in process now as part of the Travel Management Rule.

It is your opportunity to let the Feds know what you like or don't like and what can be folded into the plan from other alternatives. I will take input on any part of the Plan to pass on to the RAC.

Thank You, Art
