Exclamation BLM Western Oregon Plan Revision

The newest version DEIS just came out a week or so ago. 4 volumes and about 9 lbs of paper. Comment period runs for 90 days, until around July 23, 2015.

All action alternatives, according to the quicky summary, will decrease availability for OHV use.

This plan covers all BLM west of the Cascades in Oregon, as well as the Klamath Falls Resource area on the Lakeview District.

Comment period just extended for 30 days to around the 21st of August. Word from the timber interests and the green side is, NOBODY likes anything about it. And in an interview last night on the local station, the environmental side thinks the Northwest Forest Plan is working splendidly, and can't see any reason for changes. Hasn't figured out that since it is an utter failure as far as reaching projections for timber production, and protection of the owl (whose numbers are nosediving), it needs to be revised, 20-25 years old anyway, past time.
