Woman seriously injured in ATV crash

Yakima Herald-Republic

EASTON, Wash. — A 19-year-old Auburn, Wash., woman was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after crashing her all-terrain vehicle Saturday afternoon, Kittitas County sheriff’s officials said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was in stable condition with a hip injury, numerous internal injuries and a broken leg as of Sunday evening, according to a news release issued this morning.

About 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the woman was riding at high speed in the 900 block of Elk Heights Road when she lost control while rounding a curve, authorities said.

She left the roadway and was thrown from the ATV, then struck a utility pole and guide wire before landing in a ditch on the side of the road.

She was wearing a helmet and had not been drinking, investigators said.
