When hitting the trails, preparation is key! Whether you're heading out for a short local adventure or a remote multi-day excursion, having the right gear can make all the difference. This checklist offers a comprehensive guide to essential gear, helping you stay safe, recover efficiently, and keep your rig running smoothly.





Customizing Your Gear Load out

Every trip is different, and so are vehicle requirements. Adjust this list based on your specific needs, the season, and the terrain. If you're traveling in a group, consider sharing gear to reduce weight and save space. Additionally, multi-day trips will require extra food, water, fuel, and spare parts.


Most importantly, know your vehicle! Make sure you carry any specialized tools needed for trail repairs. Unexpected delays can happen, so always pack enough food, water, and extreme-weather clothing.


Standard Trail Gear

  • Permits: Discover Pass, NW Forest Pass, Oregon OHV Permit (as required)

  • Communication: Cell phone & charger, GMRS/CB radio, GPS
